Our room..I mean, Gavin's room :)

Pretty much everything in the bedroom is now taken over by baby stuff. It's so cute though that I don't mind. As long as we have a bed to sleep in! It's really hard to show the real color of this bedroom. I think the energy efficient light bulbs have something to do with the way the pictures turn out. I need more artwork!!

Ok, so I'm feeling great today.....

I woke up after having a wonderful night's sleep for the first time in weeks and I feel great! Completely different from yesterday. So, either I or Gavin can't make up our mind about when he's going to get here.

I saw the Dr. today for my 40 week appointment. He saw me and said, I waited for a phone call all night from you! Apparently they were super busy last night in the OB and had one bed available and he was thinking I might be coming in for it. Too bad I didn't!! He did an ultrasound to check fluid levels and approximate baby weight. Fluid is good/normal and he said the baby is weighing in at 8 pounds. He did mention he'll be gone next Wednesday through Monday which made my jaw drop, but that's ok. (Notice my uber-positive attitude here!) Our chances of actually having him there are dropping significantly! I can't say that I wouldn't be disappointed, but I have accepted it, and I'm ok with it. He said he would induce me Monday if I wanted to and I said no thanks , we'll just wait it out :) We had another discussion about my due date and I told him that if I was to decide to induce I'd wait until Nov. 2 which would be 9 days past my due date.. which is 2 weeks past his due date for me. I have no problem going a week over--Crystal was a week over, my friend Aleasia was 8 days late...so, Nov. 2 would be 9 days past my due date. Hopefully, we won't go that far, but I think at that point I would be willing to be induced.

Next post: Pictures of the room...I'll try to do that tomorrow.

It's almost time!

How I feel today :)

I have been having a really sharp pain in my left side since 10 pm last night. Couldn't lie down at all last night so I got 2 hours of sleep sitting up. I thought, well I must be in labor but what is this sharp pain??? Hurt so bad it made me cry :( I sat on the birth ball for a couple hours trying to move my pelvis around, got on all fours and did the cat/cow positioning, squatted, trying to do everything possible to make this pain go away. Took some tylenol and used the heating pad and nothing worked. So, I called the Dr. as soon as he opened this morning because I also had started to feel nauseated and had the chills. Of course he tells me I'm not in labor and that the baby is trying to move down. So, it's progress :)

I have slept and rested most of the day but still can't lie down. Two nights ago I spent it throwing up, then the next night peeing every 30 minutes, and last night pain in my side. All of this is encouraging to me because I know it means we have to be close! Even though I'm exhausted at least I can rest during the day.

Maternity Pictures

Our friend JD Andrade took these for us on Sunday. The weather was finally perfect! It was a gorgeous fall day, and we had so much fun doing these. I had forgotten what it was like to be the one in the picture and not behind the lens!

Wednesday is my 40 week appointment. I think he is planning on doing an ultrasound to check fluid levels and approximate baby weight. I really don't think those can be accurate at all, but I'm just going along with it :) I remember for Cindy's baby they told her she was going to be 9+ pounds and Ivey was 7 pounds (correct me if I'm wrong Cindy).

I'll update again on Wednesday!

39 week appointment......

It was informative to say the least. Found out I haven't made any progress (which I told him upfront), Dr. will be here this weekend, but gone the next two Friday/Saturdays (I thought he'd just be gone at the end of October), his due date for me is October 20th which I told him was off by 4 days and at this point 4 days is a lot of time. He will let me go until the first week of November before induction. I really, really don't want to be induced and so hopefully this baby will be here way before November 5th!

I only gained a pound so I was happy about that. Total weight gain 23 pounds. Blood pressure 108/62. Baby heart rate 160 bpm.

Everything else still normal except that I'm ready to go into labor this weekend. I know God has a plan and "there is a time to be born" so I'm pretty sure I just need to resign myself to that. It would be nice if it was sooner rather than later!

Today Janessa is coming over to try out the new belly cast that she will be offering her clients. Hopefully I'll get a massage while she's here too.. :)

We still haven't gotten our pictures taken because of the rainy weather.

Next post: Baby has arrived, pictures of the bedroom or 40 week appointment. I know which one I'd pick.

Before and After Pictures... 38 week appointment. Baby Celebration.

Before: Walls so sharp they would cut you and carpet that was just icky!

After!!!!

What Blake did: Textured walls, painted walls, painted trim and windows, painted ceiling, spray painted ceiling fan, ripped up carpet, sanded floor, stained and polyurethaned floor...Plus worked his full time job, his part time job and did this..all in 3 months. I love him and wish I could have helped more. All I did was paint the edging. I will post pictures of the room with furniture soon.

38 week appointment: I have been having contractions on and off so he checked me and I am dilated to a 1. Blood pressure still great, weight gain...GULP. 5 pounds!!!! In one week! How is that possible? Well, he told me he thinks it's fluid. :)
I go back next Wednesday if we don't have a baby by then. I'm kinda hoping we have a baby by then :)

The rest of this week I am working on getting the house put together. I realized that although we haven't moved, we have moved someone in! It's another person's stuff that I am organizing, plus cleaning up all the dust bunnies that have accumulated over the past 3 months.

We have an awesome church family. They had a baby celebration for the new moms and mom's to be this week. They prayed over us and shared some wise and insightful tips for our upcoming journey. We also got another 150 diapers and 8 packages of wipes :) We won't have to buy either one for a really long time.

When I was putting away stuff this morning (6 am--I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited that we were sleeping in our bedroom and I could finally start the fun part of nesting--with 2 weeks left, LOL) I had an old hymn pop in my head, "Showers of Blessings". I haven't heard this hymn in years but I just hummed it as I was organizing and figuring out where to put all this fun baby stuff! I feel like we have been so blessed by our family and friends throughout our pregnancy. Not only with material gifts, but gifts of time, wisdom and understanding.

Babymoon, Bedroom and Baby

Well, we didn't have time to take a babymoon because we have been trying to finish the bedroom. So, this weekend we went out on a really nice date and have spent the whole weekend together--with the bare minimum of work! This is the first weekend since August that we have spent the weekend together without Blake working.

We will finally move back into the bedroom on Tuesday. I will post before and after pictures of the room then. We got the curtains today. Now I just need to get some bedding for our bed and art work for the walls. I'm so excited it's coming together!!

Next weekend is the rescheduled camp trip and I don't think I'm going to make it. I can barely get in and out of my own bed now so I'm sure getting in and out of the tent is going to be impossible. ha! We are going to play it by ear though and see how I feel. It would be nice to spend the weekend with friends before we have a baby!

We were supposed to get maternity pictures today but it's raining.

Next post: 38 week doctor's appointment and pictures of the new room!
