Sleep, what the heck is that?! I thought babies slept through the night at some point!!!

Well, it's amazing how much things change from one blog post to another.
I will get to posting pictures later, but right now I have to vent about Gavin not sleeping! I think our trip to Piggott got his days and nights mixed up because he was awake from 10:30-4ish off and on last night..He was wide awake, threw a fit...we fed him, rocked him, read his bedtime book..and no, he wasn't having any of it.
He also fights his naps every time since the last post and I am back to dreading night time and nap time.
Gavin, one day, you will read this and know that as cute and cuddly as you are, momma still needs her sleep and she hasn't gotten any in over a year!!!!!

7 months old...awww...

Gavin is turning 7 months this Saturday. Time has flown by! His last wellness appointment a week ago had him at 29" tall, 21.4 pounds (he doesn't quite fit on the scale so we're not sure how accurate it is!), 6 teeth coming in on the top and 2 on the bottom. He played games with the doctor and she thinks he is a smart and advanced little guy. The last time we were there he flipped out and wouldn't even let her look at him. She was happy that he played with her and let her hold him. Shots last time were also so stressful-- I have never heard him cry like that before. This time, he didn't even flinch! Made my day much easier!!

He is waving and saying hey. He said hi to my mom a couple weeks ago and I couldn't believe it!

Carrots, green beans, cauliflower and bananas are on the menu. We start squash next week. He is eating num num biscuits as a snack, along with little puffs that disolve.

We go to playgroup almost weekly so he is making little friends, and so am I!

This weekend he will get to meet Granma Josie, Granpa Bo, and Aunty Cindy. I know they are excited!

Next post: pictures!

Gavin the amazing baby...he's an amazing babysaur! With his sharp, sharp teeth and his beady eyes and his teeny tiny roar!

This is a song that I made up that I sing to Gavin and he just cracks up!
What we've been doing: We have been going non-stop lately. Playgroups, visits with family, baby bookworms, walks with friends..probably going too much for him.I think his nap schedule has been suffering so the past few days we haven't left siloam and he is sleeping better during the day and at night too.

Gavin:
The bubs (one of his many nicknames) is 6 and a half months tomorrow. He is getting so big and is starting to look like a little boy instead of a baby. He has almost 6 teeth, is trying to crawl...I miss him being a little baby, but there are blessings with each new stage, and I am enjoying some of his new independence too.

Nighttime, I used to dread it: For some reason we got into a habit of him getting up every 2 hours, for about 2 months he did this. I think I just would nurse him so he wouldn't wake up Blake, but then that backfired b/c he started to wake up at 3am and think it was play time. Then, he started teething and I thought nursing would help him get through it. Well, now his teeth are not so bad and we finally decided we needed a new nighttime plan or we would be on the verge of crazy due to lack of sleep. We did the cry it out method and it was terrible the first night. Even though he only cried for 45 minutes it was so hard for me. I just cried because I couldn't do anything else. Well, apparently that worked because for 3 nights in a row now he has slept 5 to 6 hours straight! He has also been eating more solids during the day so I wonder if that helps too? anyway, we are all gradually feeling more refreshed!! Thank you God! It seems like my prayer for the past 6 months at night is, "Lord, please, I just want 4 hours of sleep straight, please, please make this happen." The first night he cried it out, I said that prayer and 6 hours later I woke up and panicked because he was still sleeping!

Playgroup: we have been a couple times so far and Gavin and I have had a really good time. I met these women on meetup.com and we go to some one's house who is hosting. He gets on the floor and plays with the other babies. It's so cute!! It is nice to meet other mom's too.

Baby bookworms: At the Fayetteville Public Library they have a 20 minute song and dance time for babies. Seeing all the different babies is fun because they are all adorable and who knows if they are learning anything but the parents are having fun! hah!

The parents get away: Blake and I had our first night away (freeeedom!!) for Mother's Day. We stayed at the amazing Evening Shade Inn and felt so pampered. I could get used to that kind of life, ha! Gavin did wonderfully with his grandparents and had a great time. He didn't let them get much sleep but he also didn't have any meltdowns. He has wonderful grandparents and we are so thankful for that. It seems that the phase he is in now is much more sociable than ever before. He is letting other people other than Mommy or Daddy hold him! Gavin gave me a sweet card and a ring for Mother's Day with his name on it.

Hosties: They are gone for the summer. I miss them already. Gary, Ericka, JD, Ilen, Elena, Jessica, and Libni are now seniors!!

And finally, the big news.....

BABY NUMBER 2 IS ON THE WAY!!!

heehee...not for me! Just thought I'd throw that in there to see if I could give anyone a heart attack, HAH! But, for my dear friend Cindy, she is having baby number 2! I'm very excited for her and wish her a happy and healthy pregnancy. :)

Gavin's first ride in the cart, new pictures, and the latest news.

When we normally go to Walmart I put Gavin in the Moby and away we go! I have tried the car seat on top of the cart and it just makes me a nervous wreck because it slides all over the place. He almost fell out of the cart once so I just wear the Moby. Well, now that he is a big boy he can finally sit in the cart and that frees up a lot of space for me around my body! He did so great and I was so proud of him!!

I can't believe our baby is almost 6 months old...he is trying to crawl now too. His back legs kick up a storm but his arms just can't quite keep up.

Blake has started working the baseball games so that means that we don't see him as much every other week. It is really hard on me when he is gone 60-70 hours every other week. At least it is only temporary and baseball season ends in September! When he works we spend time with friends or family, go on long walks, go shopping...I have lots of things planned so that we don't get bored without daddy.

We have come up with a new game plan for our house. We have decided to wait to see what will happen next door with the foreclosure. That buys us some time to finish painting and all the little jobs we have been putting off for years....and years...HAH!

Blake got the garden planted. I'm going to try to make pickles again. Last year my cucumbers got burnt up, but this year I have a new plan. I'm going to grow them on a little fence and I think that will help. I also came up with an idea to keep the weeds at bay, newspaper on the ground...last year the weeds got out of control and took over.

Gary leaves for Honduras in a couple weeks for the summer. We will miss him so much!! When he comes back he will be a senior and it's almost as if I have a kid graduating!! We have lots of fun stuff planned for his senior year :)

Thursday we are getting family pictures taken. I really hope Gavin cooperates because these will be his 6 month pictures.

Big Congratulations to Crystal who is graduating college!!!! She has worked for so long, and for so hard to complete her degree, along with having kids and working full time--her goal has finally been met. I don't know how she has managed to do it all and stay sane...probably spa days with me has helped :)

Well, this has been kind of rambly. I haven't updated the blog in awhile because I just haven't had time or a chance to.

Next post: Playgroup, Family pictures, BBQ at Blake & Fran's to say adios to the hosties, and Gavin's first camp trip (if the weather is ok).

Because He lives, we can face tomorrow....and life is worth the living just because He lives! (the song we sang in church today)

He is risen, He is risen indeed!!

We spent the morning at church and then had 11 people over for dinner. Gavin did really well in church and I actually got to hear most of the message. Usually I have to get up with him and stand up in the back or we go to the nursing room.

I cooked a feast last night so I wouldn't have anything to do today. I also realized that the stuffing I cooked for Thanksgiving two years ago from scratch was completely wrong. ha! I read the recipe last night and I was like, whhhaaat?? that's not what I did then! No wonder it tasted weird! Anyway, it turned out much better today since I actually followed the recipe.

Gavin's first egg hunt wasn't too much fun for him. He was a little cranky since he missed his regular nap time. His teeth are also bothering him right now. Next year he'll be on the hunt!
